CHEATED SEASON 2 : EPISODE 21 – THE END

SEASON 2 EPISODE 38

Richard wakes up panicking from his sleep.
He had just had a scary dream that ended with a Bible verse.

“What kind of a thing is this? Where could this dream be coming from?” He asked puzzled as he read Ps. 105:15 he was given, over and over again.

“7am? Damn, I’m so late for work!” He said on checking the time.

“But why didn’t this woman bother to wake me as usual?” He thought to himself and looked around to realize his wife wasn’t in bed.

“She must’ve gone to drop the kids at school.” He concluded as he grudgingly got out of bed and headed for the shower.

He made his time in the restroom a short one as he was really running late.
He sighed a lot of times on recalling how he didn’t have to bother getting to work early or late, or worry about queries or giving accounts, as long as things went well in the company.

Now, he had to rush most mornings to get to work early enough to avoid queries from the new boss, Kingsley.

“This is truly a demotion and a big slap on my face.” He thought as he kept sighing a couple of times.

Soon, his thoughts went back to the dream and the scripture he was given.

“He suffered no man to do then wrong, yea he reproved kings for their sakes.
Saying, touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.” He read again on his phone as soon as he was done getting dressed.

“I still don’t understand a thing from…..”

“When you plan to mess with my very own, I’d mess with you.” He heard a voice say within him.

“Mess with your own? Whose……I don’t understand.
Who’s messing with…..who am I messing with that ….. Oh God, this is so confusing.” He thought aloud.
After much trying to figure things out, he waved everything off.

Cindy was alone in her room surfing the internet when she heard a knock on her door.

“Oh…Hi, Kingsley. It’s been a while.” She said with a confident smile.

“Yeah hi Cindy, how have you been?”

“I’m fine and you?”

“I’m okay. Is Vivian around?”

“Not really. She went home three days ago. Please sit.” She said as she brought two chairs outside.

“Oh, ouch….she didn’t tell me that. I was quite in a hurry to go somewhere but decided to branch here and say hi.
I hope there’s no problem with her this one she went home.”

“Well, nothing much. Just that she’s not feeling too well. She’s been down for a while now.”

“Oh….okay, that’s new.”

“Yeah. I’m sure she would’ve told you on a norm but the sickness caught us all by surprise.”

“Okay, but do you mind telling me the nature of the sickness. Is it something I’m to be worried about?”

“Honestly, I don’t know. The doctor at the school clinic said it’s Malaria, but it’s much worse than that. If you ask me, I’d say it’s a spiritual attack.
Vivian is really in a tough battle at the moment.

I’m sure you understand everything you’re saying. I mean you’re a Christian, right?”

“Yeah yeah……uhmmm….okay can I have her house address so I could go visit her at least; because from everything you’re saying, it seems her condition is really critical.” K said as Cindy remained silent for a while.

“I’m sorry but I don’t think it’d go down well with her if I release such information to you.” She said after a while of thinking.

“Ohh….I see.” K thought, seriously taken aback by her response but remained comported

“Okay, I’d call and ask her myself then. Thanks for the information though, it was really helpful.” He said conclusively, set to leave.

“Sure, you’re welcome. I’m so sorry I couldn’t help with…..”

“Sure no problem, I understand. Okay, see you later then.”

“Bye.” Cindy said with a wave as she saw him off.

“Nawa o…….so Vivian has someone this caring and adorable yet she’s not interested because he doesn’t have a car yet and other materialistic stuffs? She definitely doesn’t know what she’s doing.

I feel she’s under manipulation because the Vivian I’ve known for long would consider other qualities first before the materialistic aspect of it.

Poor Kingsley, I feel for him. It’s better she tells him plainly she isn’t interested, instead of keeping him hanging and wasting his time coming around often. Well sha…..” Cindy thought to herself as she went back to her hostel and continued from where she stopped with her internet surfing.

“Eunice!” Hamen roared as he stormed into her closet.

“Scary, but not moved. Why are you upset?”

“How dare you disobey my order?”

“What order exactly?”

“I asked you to terminate that being! I can’t risk seeing he fulfill her destiny. She’s the helpmeet of that troublemaker that made me lose my slave.”

“Helpmeet? Not anymore. Look.” She said and pointed to the spot she’s been monitoring everything K and Cindy discussed.

“He’s had a change of plans now. The Almighty is having her replaced for living beyond her expectations; so her marital destiny has been put to a halt, thanks to us.”

“I’m still not satisfied, I want her out of this world!” Hamen thundered but Eunice wasn’t going to lose this argument.

“Vivian is useless to herself already and has lost lots of virtues. Must she be terminated still?”

“Don’t play smart on me mortal, you’re to strictly follow orders.” He said sternly and there was silence for a while.

“Okay fine, you’d get a promotion.”

“What?” Eunice asked in surprise as Hamen sighed.

“Listen I know how difficult it is for you to make sacrifices of your own blood but I assure you if you overcome that nervousness and do this particular one, you’re going to get a promotion.”

“Have you no human feelings, Hamen? Don’t you believe family should be an exception in experiencing our acts of wickedness?” Eunice responded and the pissed Hamen gave her a hot sIap.

“You dare challenge my authority and disobey my orders bluntly? Not just that, you’ve also got the effrontery to talk to me in such a rude manner? You sure will regret this, mark my words.” He said and with that was gone in the twinkle of an eye.

Eunice was still on the floor in tears of regrets.
She was beginning to wonder what she’s gained from this sect she has joined.

Apart from the initial benefits she enjoyed as a newbie, she couldn’t see any other gain.

“That you sacrificed your family to get to this height doesn’t mean I’d do the same. Everyone isn’t, and can’t be like you!” She shouted with anger in her voice.

“Babe you’ve not had your lunch, why?” Happiness asked as soon as she walked into their room, only to find her sis sniffing.

“Crying again? Babe when will you stop all this now? Are you the most miserable in this life?” Happiness asked but Esther gave no response.

“Okay now, who is it again?” Happiness asked after a while consoling her.

“Kingsley doesn’t love me.” Esther said, sulking like a baby as Happiness sighed. Truth be told, she was beginning to get tired of these kind of talks on heartbreaks.

“How did you know? Did he tell you that?” She asked calmly.

“No, I just……know.”

“So you’re just concluding based on assumption.”

“Which isn’t false. I mean, we both know he isn’t interested in me like I am in him. I just got to figure that out not too long ago and it’s just…….” She said, sobbing a little.

“Is that why you’ve been avoiding his calls?”

“Why won’t I…..wait. Who told you that? Have you been checking my call log or what?”

“Not exactly. He came here few days after your little outing to see you but you weren’t around.

He then decided to tell me to help him ask why you’ve been avoiding his calls.”

“And???”

“Well, I told him you’re passing through some things and it’s possible you’d be needing your space for sometime.”

So he was here and I didn’t know? Well why didn’t you tell me?”

“Well if I did, I’d have to sit for another round of hours listening to how heartless men are to you and how unloved you feel so…..”

“Still, you should’ve told me.”

“Well, now you know.” Happiness said as Esther laid low on her bed.

“Babe……if you ask me, what I feel you need is a break from all these drama and level up on your self-esteem.

You don’t need anyone to feel loved or worthy of love.
You really need to change this mentality of yours because it’s beginning to show all over you how desperate you are in finding love and it doesn’t work that way.
I mean if one doesn’t feel worthy to be loved, how can he or she confidently love the other person?

You suppose check this thing babe.” Happiness advised.

“Well, it’s not my fault I feel this way or have this mentality.
If only our parents could be more….”

“No blame games on this issue sis.
If you were to be an orphan nko?
Besides, God has freely offered his love to us and we humans keep rejecting it on a daily basis.

If you feel our parents didn’t love us right, then God’s love makes up for that.” She said and for the first time, Esther thought on her words.

“God’s love.” She said aloud.

“Yes.” Happiness said reassuringly and there was silence for a while.

“While you’re thinking about that, you’re lunch is getting cold so let’s go eat it together.”

“Eat what together? Haven’t you had yours?”

“Well, I’m hungry again so…..” Happiness said with a wink as they both laughed.

“You’re not serious.” Esther said as she got up from her bed to have lunch.

“This girl’s case is getting worse. We need to take her to go see a pastor.” Vivian’s dad in the presence of her mom and Eunice who all stared pitifully at the young girl.

“I think so, because this is beyond the medical profession.” Vivian’s mom said.
Eunice became immediately frightened as she sensed danger ahead if they were to carry out their plans.
She immediately opposed their idea.

“I don’t think it’s anything spiritual.
Since she isn’t responding to the white man’s medications, you can allow me go back to the village to pluck some herbs for her treatment. At least that……” Eunice suggested but her son cut.

“Mama we do not have much time left for that.
You going to the village is about two or three days journey and we do not have such amount of time.
Life is really ebbing out of this girl.” He said impatiently.

“Seeing a pastor would be better; if the case is more than meets the eye, we’d easily conduct deliverance on her.” Vivian’s dad pressed further as Eunice kept quiet and reluctantly agreed.

Eunice wasted no time in updating Hamen about what was going on but Hamen refused to help her out in any way.

“You blatantly disobeyed me when I asked you to terminate her, so face the consequences of your actions alone.” He said .

Eunice tried her best again to convince her son or daughter-in-law her idea was better, but their minds were made up as they didn’t want to lose their only child.

“I’m in deep trouble.” She murmured with a gasp as Karen on Hamen’s order, also backed out from assisting her in any way.

She then tried to help herself out by making use of her powers but they were gone.
It was at this point she knew her cup of wickedness is filled to the brim and there’s no one else to drink of it but her………
