CHEATED SEASON 2 : EPISODE 21 – THE END

SEASON 2 EPISODE 39
(SEMI-FINAL)

Richard has been pacing up and down his office in panic for close to an hour now.
He just called Rocky, the guy he had assigned to attack K, not long ago only to discover a shocking and unplanned new development.

“Hello Rocky, how far?
I haven’t heard from you after the operation; did it go well?”

“No boss it didn’t, things went south and everything don expose.” A deep voice responded.

“How? What happened?”

“You dey ask me? No be you set us up? The guy you send us to no dey around and as we come set to leave after about 30mins of laying ambush, naso we just hear siren and everything just burst.”

“What? You mean the police caught up with you?”

“Na there I dey so o, infact the phone dey loudspeaker and them dey here dey listen to wetin we dey yarn.” He said and at that moment Richard froze to the spot and cut the call immediately.

“Dmn it. This wasn’t part of the plan, what must’ve gone wrong?” Richard thought to himself as the scenario played in his head over and over again.

“Wait……he said they’ve been apprehended and were listening to our conversation so I could be traced…..oh my God.” He said and began hallucinating.

“I need to do something about this fast.” He said as he hurriedly packed his office files.

“I owe you alot Alice, thank you for last night.” K said, appreciating his secretary.

“You’re most welcome Sir. You’ve been good to me the short time I’ve been opportuned to work with you, so you didn’t deserve anythy bad happen to you.

By the way, Richard should be arrested for…..”

“No please, forget that. I had wanted to do so as well but I felt led to let God handle him himself.”

“Hmmm…..I really admire your relationship with God, Sir. I hope to one day have such strong relationship.”

“Oh you will, but you’d have to work for it. Okay, you can get back to work now.” He said, dismissing her from his office.

Esther could be seen at the altar of a church, with her head bowed low to the earth.

Though the auditorium was empty, one could hardly hear a thing she was saying.

She was like the Biblical Hannah uttering words only herself and her God could hear and understand.

After a while of silently praying, she wiped her tears, dusted herself and left the church premises, believing God had heard her.

Vivian and her family had just returned from the church premises where they had been for a week now.

They had conducted deliverance on her and the result of this led to her healing and exposure of her grandmother’s wicked acts.

Vivian’s parents were both shocked and disappointed that they had just wanted to leave her there, but were urged by the pastor to take her along with them.

They then decided to have nothing to do with her until they concluded on their next line of action.

At first, Vivian didn’t believe a thing when she was confessing all she did under much pressure by the unconducive environment, until she got healed after the pastor had forcefully demanded her release.

Resentment filled her heart as she couldn’t believe her own grandmother could be responsible for her predicament, yet act deeply worried or concerned.
She decided she needed to find answers to the questions that have been pondering her heart since they were back from the deliverance.

“I hate you.” Vivian said to her as she barged into her room to find her quietly seated, looking emotionless.

“Grandma how could you? How could you choose to be heartless to the one that has been nothing but good to you?
Why on Earth would you ever repay me in such wicked manner?” Vivian said with tears filling her eyes.

Yes she’s been healed and partially okay now, but she’s yet to believe her grandma masterminded her sudden sickness.

“Vivian go to your room.” Eunice spoke for the first time since she walked in.

“I’m not going anywhere until I get answers to all questions on my mind.” Vivian said firmly, though with a shaky voice.

“Vivian I said to your room this minute.”

“Grandma I’m going nowhere.”

“Vivian!” Eunice cautioned, shooting a glare at her, before staring back into space.

“Fine, if you insist.” She said.

“According to the confession you made to the pastor at the deliverance ground, the plan was to kill me slowly through the sickness.

Why had you wanted me dead?” Vivian queried.

“Dead? You wouldn’t die. The sickness was the only way to keep you alive as opposed to what my superior had wanted.
Somehow, I was hoping you would be prayerful enough to overcome it before it’d kill you.”

“What?” Vivian whispered, confused.

“They had wanted you out of the way for a very long time, Vivian.
I disobeyed orders to keep you alive to this very day.
Like I said, the sickness wasn’t inflicted to kill you, but buy you more time to be spiritually strong enough to overcome it and other battles that’d follow after that.” Eunice said without glancing at her one bit.

“But wait, I don’t seem to understand something here.
If you disobeyed orders to keep me alive, that should come with grave consequences right?
And again, what would you gain helping me?”

“Well, if my plan had worked and you were strong enough to overcome the sickness I had inflicted you with, perhaps….just perhaps you’d have me delivered from this thing I got myself into.” Eunice said as Vivian narrowed her eyes in confusion.

“Got yourself into? I don’t understand a thing you’ve been trying to explain here grandma. Make things a bit clear here, please.” Vivian said as Eunice sighed.

“Go to your room. You’d understand when the time is right.” Eunice said as Vivian had no choice but to obey.

That night, Vivian couldn’t sleep as she pondered greatly on the conversation she had had with her grandma.

Truth be told, nothing tangible came out of the discussion as far as she was concerned because she didn’t understand anything she said or tried to explain.

While ruminating over this and trying to solve the puzzle her mind had set for her, her thoughts immediately went to the dream she had shortly before she fell sick.

“I lost a land….it was given to another and I remember crying uncontrollably when I woke up.

Mama is saying some people in her group wanted me dead but she inflicted me with sickness instead.

As much as I don’t want to talk to her right now, I want to understand this puzzle well.

I know my dream and what she’s saying has some similarities and would arrive at a reasonable end.” Vivian thought deeply as she resolved in her heart to get answers as soon as possible. Straight and clear ones this time around.

Douglas could be seen in his sitting room, thinking deeply on how things have been going for over six months now.

The deadline for him to bring his friend back had expired and ofcourse that had its own consequence but thankfully, he had secretly joined a church for the purpose of giving his life to Christ as a form of protection, the moment he knew he’d failed at his assignment.

Although there were series of attacks, he was able to protect himself with the prayers he had learned from the little time he spent in church.

Baba on the other hand was raged that Mr. Folawe was still alive despite all; it was a big sIap on his face and powers.

It became more frustrating when his deadly weapons although affected Douglas, but couldn’t accomplish its mission.

Folawe’s family was a no go area for him as he hadn’t the simple access to any part of his life anymore, especially since he had reconciled with his wife and they both practised corporate prayers.

“No, I won’t take this!” Baba said as he sat in his meditating room to flash back on recent events occuring in his life.

“I will fight back, even with my last breath.” He said as he stood up and searched for Mr. Folawe’s picture Douglas had given to him sometime.

“You’re going down no matter what.”

Richard arrived home to surprisingly meet the front door ajar.

“Where is this woman and why would she leave the door open?!” He asked enraged as he walked in, shouting her name all over the place.

It was when there was no response he calmed down and locked the door behind him.

He was in a hurry to leave town as soon as possible; at least for the day alone, in order not to be linked with Rocky.

As he packed a few stuffs and was set to leave with his private car, he notice a note left for him on the centre table.

“Don’t bother shouting my name Richard, I’m gone….for good.
I don’t need to bother telling you where I am because I know you wouldn’t bother to come looking for me because I mean absolutely nothing to you.

I just wrote to let you know I’ve got the kids with me and you don’t need to worry as they’re in good hands.

I’m not coming back Richard, never.
Maybe when you realize my importance in my life I might consider it, but for now I just want to focus on myself and the kids.

So this is goodbye Richard, though I know it wouldn’t move you.” He read with shaky hands which let the paper fall.

“No no no, not now. My job is at risk, and now my family. All because of Kingsley?

This is just too much for me.” He lamented as he let himself crash on the sofa, gripping his head with his two hands.

While thinking of what to do, a thought flashed through his mind and remembered his dream alongside the scripture he was given.

“When you plan to mess with my very own, I’d mess with you.” He vividly recalled a voice say then as he thought of his dream.

“Was the dream about Kingsley?
Is he an anointed or a prophet?
Is this God fighting me for attempting to hurt him?” He soliloquized.

“Freeze!” He suddenly heard a voice say behind him.

“She left the kitchen door open too?” He thought while wondering where whoever it was came into the house from.

“I am Inspector James, and you’re under arrest for the attempted murder of Mr. Kingsley Nwankwo.” The stranger said, revealing his ID Card.

“Attempted murder? But I didn’t attempt to murder anybody.” Richard defended.

“Hold it there Mister. Permit me to add that you have the right to remain silent, or whatever you do or say would be used against you in the court of law.” The Inspector said as he ordered his men to handcuff him.

“Dmn! Just what have I gotten myself into?” Richard mumbled beneath his breath as he was led out of his house.
